The original work was written for orchestra and it is one of the famous polkas of J. Straus (son). This version is written for an instrumental septet: a flute, 4 marimba players (on 2 marimbas ) and 2 percussionists. This version must be played, at least, with a marimba of 5 octaves and a marimba of 4 octaves. This score was created for an order which ended up as the sound track of the short film made in playdough: “Rascal Street”, nominated with 4 Goyas in 2009. The flute is soloist, whereas the 4 marimba players and the percussionist become the osquestra, keeping up the tension of both rhythm and harmony. Difficulty: Intermediate Level
